You would think the merry din echoing in our corridors, classrooms, dining and assembly hall is from learners celebrating the end of the school year – but it’s only the 24th of March. Although discordant, it is a festival of our school’s spirited cultural heritage.
Beads, bangles, flowers, scarves, sneakers and hats
Learners and teachers paraded their fashions unique to South Africa’s diverse roots: Zulu, Sotho, Indian, English, Afrikaans, Setswana, Muslim – to name a few.

Our dining hall – with views of our horse riding arenas – was filled with the aromas from our ‘rainbow cuisine’ dishes prepared by parents, adding to the day’s festivities. For some, tasting food from the different cultures was the best part. We enjoyed curry; mieliepap; mogodu; coffee and koeksisters; tea and scones.

Vivid colours, geometric patterns and different textures were woven into posters created by learners for the day – telling stories about the cultures they come from.
Although we are here to learn about history, languages, creative arts, natural science, life orientation, horses, Equine Studies and the like – we are also here to learn about each other.
